Heidi Baker

Heidi trained at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, working in urban and regional centres throughout Victoria and the UK in general paediatrics, child and adolescent mental health and behavioural and community clinics.

In 2005 she moved to New Zealand where until November 2022 she has worked at Starship in general paediatrics initially and then the children’s emergency department. She established the first departmental wellbeing programme – HiVE in children’s emergency based on the importance of connection and communication.

Heidi is also ACEM trained, working in the adult emergency department at Auckland and is comfortable with patients across the age spectrum from birth through to adolescence and many chronic child health problems extending into early adulthood.

She is a certified coach, mother to three young children (George 12, Minnie 10 & Bessie 10) and for seven years has owned a home in the Queenstown area, spending every school holiday exploring the mountains and rivers of Central Otago. She has worked as a locum at Lakes District Hospital.
